It is sometimes hard to be self aware to know what you are good at or want to do for a living after you graduate. Most are pushed into a college setting and expected to figure it out while paying thousands of dollars a year until they find a solution. Even then, many college grads take jobs outside of their degrees because they can’t find jobs. However in today’s episode you will hear from someone who has overcome many obstacles to follow his dream and passion of having a career in the outdoor industry.
On today’s episode I am joined by Jake Flaa. Jake Flaa is the field producer of the hit fishing tv show The Next Bite. Jake takes us through his unique journey on how he landed in his current role in a way I believe will inspire many folks out there who are as passionate as Jake. The Next Bite TV show is the gold standard in educating anglers across the nation on how to catch more freshwater fish in new and cutting edge ways. Going into their 16th season, and now on Discovery Channel, they have brought to light many lure presentations that have won high level tournaments to the average everyday angler. The crew consists of three of the top anglers in the country today, Keith Kavajecz, Gary Parsons and Chase Parsons.
I am always interested in learning from these guys but the way I am wired as someone who loves outdoor industry photography, I wanted to get to know the guy behind the camera more. This is where anyone who is just like me can learn a ton of information and great advice from someone like Jake. Jake knew when to triple down on what he wanted to do for a living and was passionate about and take it to the next level. His advice, life struggles and accomplishments are great lessons for us all. I look forward to watching, learning and using no only the fishing techniques I learn from The Next Bite Tv show but also the work Jake captures and puts out for all of us to enjoy.
Cheers
Lee
